Elon Musk Reportedly Keeps Secret Communications with Russian President Vladimir Putin
Multiple sources have revealed that since the end of 2022, Elon Musk has been in regular communication with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to several current or former officials from the United States, Europe, and Russia, the discussions between the two have ranged from personal topics to business and geopolitical issues.
The report states that Musk, an American businessman, is now a significant supporter of Trump's campaign, and if Trump is elected president, Musk may take a position in the Trump administration. The report suggests that the United States and its allies have been isolating Putin in recent years, and Musk's channel of communication could signal a renewed engagement with Putin, also reinforcing Trump's expressed ideas about reaching agreements on major differences such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
However, the report also notes that, given Putin is one of the main adversaries of the U.S., these contacts have raised potential national security concerns among some in the current U.S. government.
The report further states that within the U.S. government, the content of Musk's communications with the Kremlin appears to be confidential. Several White House officials have indicated they are unaware of it. Given Musk's increasing involvement in Trump's campaign and the fact that the U.S. presidential election is less than two weeks away, the topic is highly sensitive.
Musk has not responded to the media's request for comment.
The report also mentions that a knowledgeable source says the U.S. government is in a dilemma because it relies too much on the technology controlled by Musk. SpaceX has played a strong role in launching satellites and carrying astronauts. Speaking about Musk's engagement with Putin, the source said, They (the U.S. government) don't like it. However, the source indicated that the U.S. government has not issued any warnings about such behavior from Musk.
However, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the only communication between Musk and the Kremlin was a phone call in which he discussed space and future technologies with Putin. Apart from this, neither Putin nor Kremlin officials have been in regular dialogue with Musk.
