Edwin Launches AI Terminal for Simplified DeFi Access
Edwin, a decentralized finance and AI (DeFAI) layer, has launched an AI terminal that integrates cryptocurrency wallets with AI chatbot functionality. This new terminal aims to simplify access to crypto and DeFi, making it as easy as chatting. Users can connect their browser wallets, such as Phantom or MetaMask, to the terminal, which provides real-time wallet context and suggests or executes DeFi trades. The terminal is fully non-custodial and secure, working directly from the user's browser. Edwin's co-founder and CEO, Liran Markin, emphasized that the terminal builds transactions and prompts users to sign them, ensuring a secure and user-friendly experience.
Edwin's mission is to create a gateway for the next wave of crypto users by simplifying understanding and access to basic DeFi benefits like swapping and yield tools. The terminal allows users to swap tokens, lend assets, and explore yield opportunities without navigating complex decentralized apps across multiple protocols. Markin highlighted that Edwin's offering integrates deep DeFi capabilities with a simple chat interface, providing a new mental model for how people access crypto. The terminal connects natively to any wallet, giving users a self-custodial experience of holding crypto without relying on third parties.
The concept of integrating crypto wallets into chatbots for DeFi access and AI-driven trade execution is relatively new. Sean Tao, a co-founding partner at a composable infrastructure layer for building social applications, noted that the DeFAI narrative reflects this growing sector’s focus on automation and user-friendly interfaces. Tools like Edwin’s AI terminal are democratizing access to crypto, making it more accessible to a broader audience. Tomer Warschauer Nuni, investment director and executive, highlighted that Edwin represents a total shift in how people can interact with DeFi entirely. He emphasized that users retain custody and sign every transaction themselves, changing the risk profile dramatically. However, he suggested that external audits and adversarial testing would be beneficial before heavy usage.
Addressing concerns about external auditing, Edwin CEO Markin mentioned that the terminal is only offchain, so there are no smart contracts involved. The terminal sends transactions directly to the supported protocols, which include SolanaSOL--, Base, Meteora, JupiterJUNS--, UniswapUNI--, Malda, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Hyperliquid, DEX Screener, and Cookie3 API. Edwin connects intelligent agents like ChatGPT, Claude, and LangChain to onchain protocols, enabling users to access DeFi through simple natural language interactions. The launch is part of a broader effort to onboard the next wave of crypto users by lowering technical barriers to participation in DeFi.
