The company posted 48% year-over-year Electrical backlog growth, recorded first quarter earnings per share were $2.22 and, excluding charges ... adjusted earnings per share were $2.81. At the same time, full-year 2026 guidance calls for earnings per share expected to be between $10.88 and $11.33, up 6% at the midpoint over 2025, with adjusted EPS between $13.05 and $13.50, up 10% at the midpoint over 2025. Instead, the strongest signal is concentrated where power density, uptime, and construction speed matter most.

Timing and complexity can support better mix
The timing dynamic matters too. Long interconnection timelines and grid reliability pressures mean new data centers cannot simply order equipment and plug in. Developers have to coordinate around constrained grid access and technically complex power delivery. That can turn critical electrical equipment from a commodity purchase into a schedule-sensitive solution.
Eaton's collaboration with Siemens Energy illustrates that shift. The partnership calls for simultaneous construction of data centers and associated on-site power generation, while Eaton supplies medium voltage switchgear, low voltage switchgear, UPS, busways, racks, containment, and engineering. When projects depend on coordinated power design and integration, buyers are often willing to pay for reduced risk and faster deployment rather than chase the lowest price.
What Eaton still has to prove
The main question for the stock is whether tighter power constraints are improving earnings quality, not just boosting volume. If interconnection timelines and reliability risks are tightening, customers are buying certainty. Eaton can sell into that need with more complex solutions such as medium voltage switchgear, low voltage switchgear, UPS, busways, racks, containment, and engineering, which should help visibility and support better mix than a simple equipment pass-through.
