Dublin Airport Expects to Exceed Passenger Cap This Year, Despite Government Support for Removal.

Dublin Airport is set to exceed its 32 million passenger cap this year, despite the cap being breached last year. The airport operator DAA said it will have to turn away 4 million passengers if it is to comply with the cap. The cap was imposed by An Bord Pleanála in 2007 and DAA is urging the Government to share proposals to resolve the cap impasse. The airport experienced its busiest-ever June with over 3.5 million passengers, and DAA chief executive Kenny Jacobs said the cap is a "millstone weighing down every airline considering keeping or starting new routes".
