Dubai, the bustling metropolis of the United Arab Emirates, is set to host the second edition of the Middle East Blockchain Awards (MEBA) on April 29, 2025. The event, coinciding with the TOKEN2049 conference, will take place at the iconic Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, bringing together industry leaders, innovators, and visionaries to celebrate achievements in blockchain and cryptocurrency.
MEBA 2025 arrives at a pivotal moment as the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region experiences rapid blockchain adoption. According to Chainalysis, the region ranks as the seventh-largest cryptocurrency market globally, with an estimated on-chain value of $338.7 billion between July 2023 and June 2024, accounting for 7.5% of the global transaction volume.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has emerged as a global leader in digital asset adoption, ranking third worldwide in digital currency usage, as per Henley & Partners' latest report. Chainalysis data reveals that the UAE received approximately $34 billion in cryptocurrencies between June 2023 and July 2024, experiencing a robust 42% year-on-year growth. This growth is driven by the country's progressive approach to blockchain technology, with cities like Dubai establishing themselves as key innovation hubs.
