Drosera, a pioneering Ethereum-aligned security automation layer, has raised $4.75 million in its latest funding round. The company, positioned as the immune system for Ethereum, aims to set a new standard for protocol security in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space.
The funding round was led by Greenfield Capital, with participation from prominent funds such as Anagram, UDH Capital, and Pulsar. Multiple angel investors, including Jan Baeriswyl, Luke Hackett, Felix Lutsch, and Diogo Costa, also contributed to the raise.
Samuel Glenn (Bobafetador), co-founder and CTO of Drosera, expressed his enthusiasm about the support from esteemed investors. "Drosera acts as Ethereum’s immune system by arming protocols with the ability to detect and neutralize threats before they can cause harm," he said. "By significantly reducing the risk of exploits, we are building a more resilient and trustworthy DeFi ecosystem."
With over 3,700 web3 protocols falling victim to exploits due to security failings and vulnerabilities, Drosera offers a cutting-edge solution. Fernando Reyes (FDR), Founder and CEO of Drosera, stated that this raise is a pivotal milestone for the company as it continues its mission to redefine security standards within the DeFi space.
Drosera's innovative approach enables protocols to delegate security infrastructure to a decentralized network of node operators. This system functions similarly to antibodies in a biological immune system, identifying and neutralizing threats in real-time to safeguard the network. Protocols create customizable Solidity-based smart contracts called Traps, which define application security parameters. Protocols deposit funds into Traps, creating value for third-party operators who actively monitor Ethereum data to respond to risky events.
Drosera's system aligns incentives across protocols and operators, giving birth to a new economy that aims to become the standard for web3 security. The network has already gained significant traction, with over 25 protocols committed to its Testnet, including Ion Protocol, EtherFi, and Gravita. It has also secured partnerships with several node operators and joined forces with security specialist GoPlus.
Jendrik Poloczek, Principal at Greenfield, expressed excitement about the experienced team and their relentless drive to redefine on-chain security. "In
