Stock futures surged Thursday, with major indexes nearing record highs despite the implementation of new tariffs. Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.4%, while those linked to the S&P 500 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq rose 0.6% and 0.8%, respectively [1].
The S&P 500 index is less than 1% away from a record closing high, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite is just a few points away from a record. Investors have brushed aside concerns about tariffs, focusing instead on the market's recent gains [1].
Semiconductor stocks, particularly those of Nvidia (NVDA) and Broadcom (AVGO), saw significant gains, with NVDA up about 1.5% and AVGO up about 1.5% as well. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) added more than 2% to its value [1].
