Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter and digital payments firm Square, has once again been linked to the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, in a recent post on X. Seán Murray, president and chief editor of the financial news website deBanked, compiled a list of facts, numbers, and dates related to Bitcoin that he believes connects Dorsey to the cryptocurrency's mysterious creator.
Murray's theory suggests that Dorsey has been secretly behind Bitcoin since its inception, citing his cypherpunk tendencies and various connections between Dorsey's personal life and Bitcoin's history. However, others argue that the evidence presented is not definitive, and Dorsey himself has denied being Satoshi Nakamoto in the past.
One of Murray's most notable observations is that the first Bitcoin transaction took place on Dorsey's mother's birthday, while the last Bitcoin block mined by Satoshi supposedly happened on his father's birthday. Additionally, Murray claims that Satoshi signed up to the Bitcoin forum on Dorsey's birthday and that the original Bitcoin source code documents are all timestamped at exactly 4 am, a time that Dorsey once had in his Twitter profile.
Murray also points to the hacking of Satoshi's "GMX" email in 2014, which he claims revealed a connection to St. Louis, Missouri, where Dorsey was born and raised. Furthermore, Murray believes that Satoshi "accidentally" logged into Internet Relay Chat on Jan. 10, 2009, showing a real IP address based in California, where Twitter was based and where Dorsey spent much of his time.
Murray's theory has sparked debate among X users, with some criticizing the lack of definitive evidence and others questioning the motives of Satoshi, the creator of uncensored money, to censor information as Dorsey's Twitter did following US government intervention. Despite the criticism, Murray continues to present his evidence, with 10 of the 15 "chapters" he has written on Dorsey's ties to Satoshi supposedly containing supporting evidence.
Dorsey has not addressed these posts nor denied any of them, leaving the debate surrounding his potential connection to Satoshi Nakamoto open to speculation. This theory comes more than four months after HBO's Cullen Hoback claimed Canadian computer scientist Peter Todd created Bitcoin,
