Domino's Pizza (DPZ.US) has announced a significant shift in its delivery strategy by partnering with
(DASH.US), effectively ending its exclusive delivery agreement with Eats (UBER.US) in North America. This new collaboration aims to attract new customers and expand reach across the region.Starting from May, consumers in the United States will be able to order Domino's pizzas through DoorDash, the largest food delivery platform in the country. This service is expected to be rolled out in Canada later this year. Domino's will deploy its own drivers to fulfill DoorDash orders, ensuring seamless delivery to customers.
The termination of the exclusive delivery agreement with Uber Eats marks a strategic pivot for Domino's. The original agreement, signed in July 2023 and extended until May 1, 2025, had granted Uber Eats exclusive rights to deliver Domino's pizzas in the United States. A similar agreement was in place in Canada since April 2024. According to Domino's CEO Russell Weiner, orders from the Uber Eats platform accounted for 3% of the company's sales in 2024.
Domino's believes that partnering with DoorDash will open up new customer opportunities, particularly in suburban and rural areas where DoorDash has a stronger presence compared to Uber Eats. This collaboration is expected to bring in $10 billion in new business, further solidifying Domino's position in the market.
Joe Jordan, the President and Chief Operating Officer of Domino's USA, highlighted the significance of this partnership. "As our brand continues to expand across the nation, tapping into incremental customers, especially in suburban and rural areas, presents a meaningful opportunity for Domino's," he stated. This strategic move is part of Domino's broader effort to enhance its delivery capabilities and customer experience, ensuring that it remains a leader in the pizza delivery market.
