DJI's Amflow Electric Bikes Debut in US, Offering High-Performance and Advanced Tech Features

DJI, the drone giant, has officially launched its first e-bikes in the US market through its subsidiary Amflow. The two new models, Amflow PL Carbon and Amflow PL Carbon Pro, are high-performance electric mountain bikes with a DJI-developed mid-drive motor platform, Avinox, offering 105 Nm of torque and up to 850 watts of peak power. The bikes feature a sleek design, low weight, and advanced tech integration, positioning DJI as a significant player in the e-bike industry.

The Amflow PL Carbon starts at $7,499 USD, while the Amflow PL Carbon Pro is priced at $10,199 USD. The higher-end model comes with Fox Factory suspension, SRAM XO Transmission drivetrain, and Magura MT7 brakes, while the standard model features Fox Performance suspension, SRAM Eagle 70 Transmission drivetrain, and Magura MT5 brakes.

The legal gray area surrounding eMTBs like the Amflow models continues to pose a challenge for trail organizations. In the US, regulations vary by state, with some allowing up to 1000 watts of power, while others have stricter limits. In the EU, continuous power is legally limited to 250 watts with a top speed of 25 km/h. The influx of more powerful eMTBs has led to increased concerns about trail etiquette and self-regulation to maintain access to trails.

Despite the legal challenges, the Amflow eMTBs are gaining attention for their performance and innovation. The Avinox motor system's ability to generate 1000W of peak power continuously has been a significant factor in the bikes' popularity.
