DigitalBridge-backed Vantage Data Centers is launching a $25 billion, 1.4GW hyperscale data center campus in Shackelford County, Texas, as part of its largest project to date. The Frontier campus will serve as a cornerstone in the rapidly growing Texas AI hub, supporting global hyperscale customers and bringing significant economic benefits to the region.

Vantage Data Centers, a leading global provider of hyperscale data centers, has announced its largest project to date: a $25 billion, 1.4GW data center campus in Shackelford County, Texas. The new campus, named Frontier, is set to be a cornerstone in the rapidly growing Texas AI hub, supporting global hyperscale customers and bringing significant economic benefits to the region [1].

The Frontier campus will span 1,200 acres and include 10 data centers totaling 3.7 million square feet. The campus is designed to support ultra-high-density GPU workloads and will utilize advanced liquid cooling systems to meet the unique needs of AI deployments. Construction has already begun, with the first building scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2026 [1].

Frontier aligns with Vantage’s “sustainable by design” blueprint, incorporating resource-efficient technologies and pursuing LEED certification. The campus is expected to save billions of gallons of water annually through its highly efficient closed-loop chiller system [1].

The project is being backed by DigitalBridge Group, Inc., a leading global alternative asset manager dedicated to investing in digital infrastructure. Jon Mauck, Senior Managing Director and Head of Data Centers at DigitalBridge, noted that Frontier represents an important milestone for Vantage and the broader digital infrastructure ecosystem [2].

“Frontier is a direct response to the power and scale challenges of the AI era,” said Marc Ganzi, CEO of DigitalBridge. “It reflects the playbook we’ve built over three decades of investing in data centers and digital infrastructure” [2].

The Frontier campus is expected to create more than 5,000 jobs across construction and ongoing operations. Vantage has committed to hiring locally and providing numerous training opportunities, as well as making financial contributions to local charities and pledging college scholarships for Shackelford County students [1].

The project is a significant economic growth driver for the area, with Governor Greg Abbott expressing his support and excitement for the investment. The county judge for Shackelford County also welcomed the project, highlighting the potential for educational and job opportunities for local residents [1].
