Detained Newlywed Freed After 141 Days of ICE Detention

Ward Sakeik, a 22-year-old woman of Palestinian descent and stateless person, was detained by ICE for 141 days and two deportation attempts after marrying Taahir Shaikh, a US citizen, on their honeymoon in the US Virgin Islands. She was finally released on Tuesday night, after being told to pack and seeing the moon for the first time since February. Sakeik and Shaikh were married just 10 days before her detention.
