Rohun Vora, known by the pseudonym Frank DeGods, announced his resignation as CEO of the DeGods NFT project on Monday, marking the end of his three-year tenure at the helm of one of Solana’s most prominent collections. In a candid message posted on X, Vora reflected on the sleepless nights he spent building DeGods and its sister collection, y00ts. Vora admitted that the project’s focus on his persona may have become a hindrance, noting that while the criticism was sometimes overdone, he understood its appeal as click-driven content. He also clarified that he had not committed any unlawful acts and was not evading any investigations.

Vora’s resignation follows a series of high-profile setbacks for the DeGods project. In 2023, he oversaw the migration of DeGods from Solana to Ethereum following Solana’s downturn post-FTX collapse. However, the transition was marred by technical issues and an overhyped Season 3 release that disappointed collectors with lackluster artwork, leading to a sharp drop in the project’s floor price. Additionally, DeLabs, the studio behind DeGods, merged with Dust Labs in February 2024, and co-founder Kevin Henrikson, also known as Kevin DeGods, departed around the same time. These changes were seen as an attempt to streamline operations and redefine the roadmap after the project’s rocky transition.

The launch of the DEGOD token in September 2024 aimed to simplify the ecosystem but met with mixed reactions from holders.
