This initiative aims to provide viable pathways for the intelligent transformation of farms, painting a forward-looking picture for China's dairy industry.Considering that feed costs make up 60%-70% of dairy production expenses, digitizing silage management is paramount. John Deere has leveraged its deep insight into the global livestock industry to integrate smart agricultural machinery with digital farming, establishing a comprehensive smart silage management system. This system is built around John Deere's silage harvesters, HarvestLab™ 3000 silage harvest lab, and Deer's digital agriculture platform, forming a digital management loop from the field to the silo.
The HarvestLab™ 3000 silage harvest lab utilizes NIR technology to continuously read over 4,000 measurements per second, monitoring silage dry matter content in real-time. Its AutoLOC intelligent management system adjusts cutting lengths based on dry matter content during operations to optimize silage density and feed quality, reducing the use of additives and enhancing compression quality, thus saving costs significantly.
Following harvest operations, key data can be transmitted to computers, assisting users in analyzing silage quality characteristics, such as yield and average dry matter, providing insights for future crop and land management strategies.
Through the John Deere digital agriculture platform, users can set weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual usage reports according to their preferences, allowing them to review operational status and manage silage harvest plans efficiently.
Amidst the trend toward industrialized and intensive dairy farming in China, John Deere is redefining silage quality management standards underpinned by "smart equipment + digital services."
