Dave Portnoy Returns 6M LIBRA Tokens Over Gift Disclosure Ban
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy recently revealed new details about the issuance of the LIBRA token project. He stated that he had originally planned to join the project as an advisor and had purchased tokens at issuance. However, after project advisor Hayden Davis informed him that he could not publicly acknowledge receiving the gifted tokens, he decided to return approximately 6 million tokens.
"(Davis said) 'You can't say that we gave you these tokens'... If you won't let me say that you gave me the tokens, and I'm part of the project, then I can't accept these tokens. So I just sent the tokens back," Portnoy said.
"I'm not going to promote this damn token issuance on Twitter, pretending like 'Oh, Mila is so awesome'... without mentioning that they gifted me tokens." Portnoy said, "By the way, I bought a lot myself... they didn't give me any tokens before the issuance."
Portnoy stated that he trusted Davis because of his experience in the crypto field and hoped to get the opportunity to interact with Mila through participating in the project. Davis had proposed arranging an interview between him and Mila to "introduce to the world" this Argentine president.
