Darwin's airport has increased landing fees by over 110% making it the most expensive capital city airport in Australia. The fee hike has been referred to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission by MP Luke Gosling. The Airport Development Group blames ongoing runway works for the fee increase, but Gosling believes it is an "unreasonable cash grab". Commercial airlines have expressed concerns that the fee hike will put pressure on airfares and discourage airlines from growing services to Darwin.
