The dividend capture strategy is a popular income-focused trading strategy among day traders. Unlike traditional methods, which involve buying and holding dividend-paying stocks for a steady income stream, this strategy requires frequent buying and selling of shares. The goal is to hold the stock for a short period of time, just enough to capture the dividend payment.One of the main advantages of the dividend capture strategy is its simplicity. It doesn't require complex fundamental analysis or charting. Instead, investors or traders simply buy the stock before the ex-dividend date and sell it on or after that date. They don't need to hold the stock until the pay date to receive the dividend payment.However, there is a risk involved. If the stock falls more than the dividend paid, the net profit is reduced.
