AT&T Customers May Get $7,500 in $175M Settlement Over Data Breaches

AT&T customers affected by two massive data breaches may be eligible for up to $7,500 in compensation as part of a $177 million settlement. The breaches exposed sensitive personal data of 73 million current and former account holders. Impacted customers must file a claim by November 18, 2025, to receive compensation. Notices are being emailed to affected customers, but those who didn't receive an email can check their eligibility or ask questions by calling the claims administrator at (833) 890-4930.

AT&T customers affected by two significant data breaches may be eligible for up to $7,500 in compensation as part of a $177 million settlement. The breaches, which occurred in March and July 2024, exposed sensitive personal data of 73 million current and former account holders. The settlement, still pending approval by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, aims to resolve class-action lawsuits stemming from these incidents.

Breach Details

The first breach, announced in March 2024, impacted 73 million current and former AT&T account holders. Hackers stole personal information, including birth dates and Social Security numbers, and spread this data across the dark web. The second breach, announced in July 2024, compromised the call and text records of "nearly all" of AT&T's customers, with the logs downloaded by hackers onto a third-party platform.

Eligibility and Claim Process

Current and former AT&T customers can file for compensation if their data was jeopardized in the breach. Eligible customers will receive an email alert from attsettlement@e.emailksa.com. Those unsure of their eligibility can call (833) 890-4930. To receive compensation, customers must fill out a claim form at telecomdatasettlement.com by November 18, 2025. Documentation of losses is required to show they are "fairly traceable" to the data breaches.

Compensation Details

Those impacted by the March 2024 data breach are eligible for up to $5,000, while customers affected by the July 2024 breach are eligible for up to $2,500. Customers affected by both breaches can receive up to $7,500.

Timeline

Payouts are expected to be sent out at the earliest by the end of the year, but could take longer if appeals are filed after the Dec. 3 hearing. It will also take time for the claim forms to be processed.
