Crypto Target: Amouranth's Terrifying Home Invasion

On the night of March 2, popular streamer and internet personality Kaitlyn Siragusa, known as Amouranth, experienced a terrifying home invasion. Three armed men broke into her residence, demanding that she hand over her crypto assets. Amouranth shared a surveillance video on social media, showing masked men in her residential area and herself leading them towards another part of the house. Three loud noises echoed, causing the intruders to flee. The nature of these noises remains unclear, with speculation ranging from gunshots to alarms.

As authorities continue to investigate this suspicious incident, the crypto community is on high alert. This attack on Amouranth may be the beginning of a new trend targeting crypto investors. Her openness about her wealth, including 211 Bitcoin worth around $20 million at the time, may have made her a target. Similar incidents have been reported worldwide, such as the attempted kidnapping of a Canadian crypto forum moderator and the abduction of David Balland, co-founder of Ledger, both in January 2025. In February 2025, a crypto investor in Chicago was nearly kidnapped in another high-profile incident.

Security experts warn that as cryptocurrency becomes more mainstream, these crimes will only increase. Unlike traditional financial assets held in banks, crypto holdings are often directly controlled by individuals, making them vulnerable to physical coercion. To stay safe, experts recommend not publicizing crypto holdings, using decoy wallets, improving home security, and considering multi-signature wallets. Although Amouranth was not physically harmed, the psychological impact of this incursion is evident. Her experience serves as a reminder that possessing online funds also has real-world risks, and the more people utilize cryptocurrency, the more security measures should be taken.
