CrowdStrike (CRWD.US): Over 97% of Windows sensors back online
The CEO of cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike (CRWD.US) said more than 97% of Windows sensors have been reactivated after a software update at the company last week triggered a global outage. The outage was caused by a bug in the firm's Falcon platform, a security agent that protects devices such as laptops and desktops from threats. The bug caused a crash on computers running Microsoft's Windows operating system, displaying a blue screen of death.
Microsoft (MSFT.US) said about 850,000 Windows devices were affected, causing flights to be grounded, broadcasters to be forced off air and users to lose access to medical and banking services. “Based on the development of automated recovery and the mobilization of all resources to support our customers, our recovery efforts have been strengthened,” said George Kurtz, the company’s CEO, in a post on LinkedIn.
