CoreWeave Q2 Preview: Can $2.6B of AI Demand Finally Turn Into Profit?

CoreWeave's Q2 report shifts the focus from AI demand to profitability
CoreWeave is now being judged less on whether AI demand exists and more on whether it can hold onto more of the cash it brings in. After a nearly 30% YTD gain, the stock is heading into Tuesday's quarterly call with an options market pricing roughly a 13% swing by week's end. That suggests investors see the update as more than a routine check-in.
The bull case still rests on real demand
The positive case is straightforward: GPU demand remains strong, customer commitments continue to expand, and CoreWeaveCRWV-- reportedly delivered its strongest bookings quarter ever in Q1. If the company can show that rising revenue is starting to support a better margin structure, investors may have a clearer reason to look past the heavy infrastructure spend.

Why margins matter more now
The risk is that growth is still coming with major losses. CoreWeave's first-quarter results reportedly included a net loss of about $740 million, and the stock has pulled back from its filing-day price of $136.80. That setup matters because investors now need proof that the business can scale without needing ever more financial breathing room. If margins do not improve, the market may keep assigning a lower multiple to a capital-intensive model.
