Corbie Jean Walpole, a 24-year-old woman, is seeking to appeal her 7-year jail sentence for setting her friend Jake Loader on fire during a backyard party in New South Wales. Walpole poured petrol on Loader and set him alight after a night of heavy drinking and cocaine use. Loader suffered third-degree burns to 50% of his body and was in an induced coma for eight days. Walpole will be eligible for parole in 2029, but her appeal hearing date has not been set.
