CommVault Systems Inc's study with GigaOm reveals that 93% of UK businesses have experienced a business-critical cyber incident, surpassing the global average. However, UK organizations are 21% less likely to have a dedicated recovery environment and only 36% prioritize the Minimum Viability Company approach. This underscores the need for UK businesses to invest in robust cyber resilience strategies, presenting a growth opportunity for CommVault.

A recent study by Commvault Systems Inc. in collaboration with research firm GigaOm has revealed that 93% of UK businesses have experienced a business-critical cyber incident, significantly surpassing the global average. Despite this high incidence, UK organizations are 21% less likely to have a dedicated recovery environment and only 36% prioritize the Minimum Viability Company (MVC) approach [2].

The study, conducted among 1,000 senior decision-makers, found that while 93% of UK businesses have experienced a critical cyber incident, only 7% report never having experienced one. This indicates a stark contrast between the frequency of incidents and the readiness to recover from them. Furthermore, 57% of these incidents occurred within the past 18 months, underscoring the urgency of preparedness [2].

One of the key barriers identified by the survey is the complexity of existing systems and applications, cited by 52% of respondents, followed closely by the struggle to keep recovery plans aligned with changing business needs (47%). Additionally, 30% of respondents cited difficulties separating core systems from broader operations as a significant barrier to implementing the MVC concept [2].

However, there are some positive signs. Sixty-five percent of UK businesses have an inventory of business-critical systems and dependencies, and 61% have created defined runbooks, roles, and processes for incident responses. These foundational steps suggest an investment in incident response preparations, albeit not translating into real-world recovery readiness [2].

The study highlights the need for UK businesses to invest in robust cyber resilience strategies. This presents a growth opportunity for Commvault Systems Inc., which offers comprehensive cyber resilience solutions. By addressing the gaps in recovery readiness, UK businesses can better prepare for and respond to cyber incidents, potentially reducing downtime and financial losses [2].
