Coherus Q2 Update: 15% Sales Growth, but the Real Bet Is October Pipeline Proof

Cash pressure eased, but the valuation case still depends on October data
Coherus looks safer than it did at the start of the quarter, but not necessarily as safe as the market may be assuming. The latest results reduced some funding anxiety: the company ended Q2 with $105.3 million in cash, and accrued rebates fell to $14.9 million. That lowers the odds of an immediate capital raise and gives the business a bit more time. It does not, on its own, turn the story into a straightforward operating compounder.
The core value still hinges on projected October public disclosure of data sets with sufficient maturity. That makes the setup a mix of runway and optionality rather than a pure near-term execution story.
The balance-sheet relief is real, but so is the later dilution overhang. Earlier this year, CoherusCHRS-- reported $167.0 million in quarter-end cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities, which helped preserve flexibility. Even so, the prior need to raise capital means dilution is no longer the immediate crisis it once appeared to be; it is still part of the backdrop if the pipeline does not advance fast enough.
LOQTORZI stabilization helped the quarter, but combinations still drive the upside case
The operating improvement in Q2 was genuine, and it changed the tone of the discussion. After a weaker first quarter, LOQTORZI net sales grew 15% quarter over quarter to $13.6 million. Costs also eased, with R&D at $21.4 million and SG&A at $21.0 million. For a biotech that had been weighed down by execution fear, that cleaner print matters.
What improved in the NPC franchise
The most useful commercial signal was not the sales figure alone, but the evidence that demand is tracking better, with the highest number of new patient starts since launch. For the NPC franchise, that is a stabilizing read. It suggests the core business is not deteriorating.
Still, operating discipline is not the same as a valuation rerating. A healthier NPC business can support the company, improve confidence, and help fund the next phase of development. The bigger upside case still rests on combinations. Coherus has said its strategy is to drive sales multiples and synergies from proprietary combinations.
Why pipeline proof still owns the multiple
The pipeline also moved forward. For casdozokitug, casdozokitug first-line HCC enrollment is complete. That removes one execution risk and brings data closer. For tagmokitug, management pointed to an acceptable and manageable safety profile and emerging evidence of activity in a difficult setting. Those are useful proof-of-concept steps, but they are not yet the same as full confirmation of the broader combination thesis.
That is why the projected October data disclosure remains the real hinge for valuation. If the data strengthen the combination case, the extra runway can matter. If not, the option value fades and the dilution overhang comes back into focus.
