Clark Schmidt Expected to Undergo Tommy John Surgery.

New York Yankees pitcher Clark Schmidt is expected to undergo Tommy John surgery after a MRI exam revealed a tear in the ulnar collateral ligament of his right elbow. Schmidt, 29, was placed on the injured list with forearm tightness and is 4-4 with a 3.32 ERA through 14 starts. The Yankees also added right-hander Scott Effross and left-hander Jayvien Sandridge to the active roster on Friday.
