CKpool Launches Low-Latency Pool in Brisbane for Oceania and Asia-Pacific Miners

CKpool, a prominent Bitcoin mining pool, has recently launched a new low-latency pool in Brisbane, Australia. This initiative is aimed at serving miners in the Oceania and Asia-Pacific regions, providing them with a more efficient and responsive mining experience. The new pool is designed to operate with minimal latency, ensuring that miners in these regions can compete effectively in the global mining landscape.

The AU solo pool is distinct from the main CK pool and the EU solo BTC mining pool due to performance and latency considerations. Blocks generated from the AU pool will be propagated to other sibling pools, carrying the same signature as the main CK pool but with the prefix “ckpoolau.” This setup allows miners to utilize other sibling pools as backups, ensuring continuous operation even if one pool experiences issues.

Con Kolivas, the developer and administrator of CKpool, predicted that the AU pool will primarily consist of Bitaxe mining rigs. He also noted that the AU pool is likely to have the lowest hashrate among the solo CK pools due to the high cost of electricity in Australia. The average residential electricity rate in Australia is significantly higher than in other countries, making it more challenging for miners to operate profitably.

Despite the high electricity costs, a solo miner recently achieved a significant milestone by solving block number 904,989 and winning 3.175 BTC. This miner had an impressive hashrate of 200 petahashes per second (Ph/s), which is much higher than the hashrate of available mining hardware. Kolivas speculated that this miner is likely renting hashrate, as the high hashrate suggests the use of additional resources beyond typical mining rigs.

The launch of the new low-latency pool by CKpool is a strategic move to enhance the mining experience for users in the Oceania and Asia-Pacific regions. By providing a more responsive and efficient mining pool, CKpool aims to attract more miners and increase its overall hashrate. This initiative is part of CKpool's ongoing efforts to support the Bitcoin mining community and promote the decentralization of the Bitcoin network.
