Cirrus Logic and GlobalFoundries have expanded their strategic partnership to accelerate the development and commercialization of next-generation chip technologies. The collaboration, announced on August 19, 2025, aims to introduce more efficient and powerful chip solutions for various industries, including smartphones and automobiles.

The partnership focuses on two key technologies: next-generation BCD (Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) process technology and Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology. The BCD process technology allows for the combination of different functions on a single chip, enhancing power efficiency and compactness. This technology will be manufactured at GlobalFoundries' facility in Malta, New York, adding a U.S.-based option to complement existing manufacturing in Singapore and Germany [2].

The companies are also collaborating on GaN technology, which offers high-power density and the ability to handle high voltages.
