Circle Mints 250M USDC on Solana, Total Issuance in 2025 Reaches 8B

Circle, the issuer of the popular stablecoin USDC, has minted another 250 million USDC on the Solana blockchain, bringing the total issuance in 2025 to 8 billion USDC. This latest mint was reported by on-chain analytics firm Spot On Chain on February 24, which also revealed that Circle had added 1 billion USDC to Solana in the past seven days. In January, Circle minted a total of 6 billion USDC on Solana, followed by an additional 2 billion USDC in February.

The rising supply of USDC on Solana can be attributed to the network's increasing DeFi activity and significant trading volumes. Additionally, the growing supply of USDC has been boosted by regulatory shifts in the stablecoin market, particularly in Europe. Circle's compliance with the Markets in Crypto-Assets regulations has led to growing adoption within the European markets, while non-compliant stablecoins like Tether's USDT have been delisted by exchanges in the European Union. Circle has secured several important licenses, such as the Electronic Money Institution license from French authorities, further strengthening its regulatory stance.

Circle's USDC has seen a significant increase in market capitalization, reaching $57.19 billion, as shown by DefiLlama data. This growth can be attributed to the recent developments and Circle's active expansion of its ecosystem. In January 2025, Circle acquired Hashnote, a tokenized real-world asset firm, strengthening its position in the growing tokenized treasury market. Additionally, Circle launched Paymaster, a tool that lets users pay gas costs using USDC on Arbitrum and Base, and debuted USDC on Aptos, expanding its reach to 16 blockchain networks.

With Circle's regulatory stance strengthening and USDC's role in DeFi growing, the firm is establishing itself as a major player in the dynamic global stablecoin industry. The latest mint of 250 million USDC on Solana further solidifies Circle's commitment to meeting the growing demand for regulated stablecoins.
