DFA and Ciena achieved a record 1.6 Tbps transmission over a single wavelength in a trial between Isando and Midrand in South Africa. This milestone was part of DFA's R800 million network upgrade initiative. Ciena's WaveRouter and WaveLogic 6 Extreme solutions were used in partnership with Willcom. The trial demonstrates DFA's ability to meet future digital demands and offers scalable services ranging from 400 Gbps to 1.6 Tbps within a single router.
