CIA Confirms Iran's Nuclear Program Severely Damaged by Recent Targeted Strikes.
June 19, 2025The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has confirmed that Iran's nuclear program has been significantly damaged by recent targeted strikes, according to an assessment released by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). The strikes, conducted last weekend, targeted Iran's major nuclear sites, including the Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan facilities. While the White House has maintained that the strikes have "obliterated" Iran's nuclear capabilities, the DIA report suggests that the program has been set back by only a few months.
The DIA report, obtained by CNN, states that while the strikes did cause significant damage, they did not completely destroy the facilities. The report notes that the core components of Iran's nuclear program remain intact, indicating that the program could be back on track within a few months. This assessment contradicts the statements made by President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who have claimed that the strikes have eliminated Iran's nuclear capabilities.
The White House has pushed back on the DIA assessment, with press secretary Karoline Leavitt calling it "flat-out wrong." She stated that the strikes were a "perfectly executed mission" that "obliterated" Iran's nuclear program. However, the CIA and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) have declined to comment on the DIA assessment.
The strikes have also raised questions about Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium, with sources indicating that the impact on this stockpile remains unknown. Additionally, the strikes have led to concerns about potential retaliation from Iran, with the FBI reassigned some counterterrorism agents to focus on immigration efforts.
The situation remains fluid, with both sides maintaining a ceasefire. However, the long-term implications of the strikes on Iran's nuclear program and regional stability are still uncertain.
