China Steel Reports NT$26.02B in January Sales, Driven by Domestic and Export Demand

Taiwan’s China Steel Corporation (CSC) reported NT$26.02 billion in sales for January 2026, reflecting a 12.3% increase compared to December 2025 and a 9.8% rise year-over-year. The growth underscores sustained demand in key markets, with the company attributing performance to robust domestic construction activity and expanded export orders.

Domestically, infrastructure projects and housing sector recovery fueled steel procurement, while exports benefited from competitive pricing and strong orders from Southeast Asia and the Middle East. CSC’s January sales also highlight improved production efficiency and lower raw material costs, which contributed to margin stability amid fluctuating global commodity prices.

Export volumes rose 8.5% year-over-year in the first month of 2026, supported by favorable exchange rates and strategic contracts with industrial clients. The company noted particular strength in hot-rolled coil and stainless steel products, aligning with trends in manufacturing and automotive sectors.

Despite the positive outlook, CSC cautioned that rising iron ore prices and potential regulatory changes in key markets could pose near-term risks. The firm emphasized its commitment to cost management and sustainability initiatives to mitigate external pressures.

Analysts view the results as a sign of resilience in Taiwan’s industrial sector, though they urge continued monitoring of regional economic conditions. CSC’s performance in January positions it to meet full-year guidance, pending stability in global trade dynamics.
