China's MIIT Accelerates 6G Development with AI and Industrial Internet Synergy

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has announced a strategic initiative to accelerate the development of 6G technology by leveraging the synergy between the industrial internet and artificial intelligence. During a press conference held on July 18, the director of the Information and Communication Development Bureau, Xie Cun, outlined a comprehensive plan to drive innovation and deployment in the information and communication sector. The plan includes enhancing the 5G-A product system, deploying high-quality networks, and advancing the research and development of 6G technology. The goal is to create a forward-looking application industry ecosystem that supports the next generation of communication technologies.

In addition to technological advancements, the MIIT is focusing on policy research and implementation to support the growth of the information and communication industry. This includes promoting the opening of value-added telecommunications services to foreign enterprises, strengthening policy implementation, and optimizing service management. The aim is to create a more inclusive and competitive environment that encourages innovation and investment.

The MIIT's efforts are also directed towards improving the deployment and promotion of 5G applications. This includes implementing the "Yangfan" action plan for large-scale 5G applications, the "5G+ Industrial Internet" 512 project, and the "Signal Upgrade" special action. These initiatives are designed to integrate industrial internet and artificial intelligence, driving the development of smart manufacturing and other advanced industries.

The MIIT's strategy also emphasizes the importance of network construction and upgrading. The ministry aims to continue enhancing the depth and breadth of 5G and gigabit optical network coverage. This includes accelerating the deployment of 5G-A and gigabit optical network pilot projects, as well as building a nationwide integrated computing power network.
