The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has announced a series of price increases for several package shipping services during the 2025 holiday season. The changes, which are subject to review by the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC), will affect parcels shipped via USPS Ground Advantage, Parcel Select, Priority Mail, and Priority Mail Express from October 5 to January 18, 2026. The rate increases vary by package weight, shipping distance, and service used.
The average rate increase for USPS Ground Advantage is 5.2%, with commercial rates at 5.3% and retail rates at 5.1%. Priority Mail services will see an average increase of 5.6%, with commercial rates at 5.2% and retail rates at 5.8%. Priority Mail Express will have an average increase of 5.6%, with commercial rates at 4.9% and retail rates at 5.7%. Parcel Select, which includes destination entry services, will see a 5.6% increase [1].
These price hikes build upon increases implemented last month and are intended to cover additional handling costs during the holiday season. USPS expects the changes to bring in approximately $99.5 million in additional revenue, according to a PRC filing. The new Postmaster General, David Steiner, aims to improve the agency's financial outlook with these adjustments [1].
In contrast, FedEx announced its peak season surcharges last month, while UPS has yet to reveal any holiday pricing changes as of Monday morning.
