Charlotte-Mecklenburg Student Represents Community at National Summit on Youth Violence

Haven Williams, an 8th grader from Northeast Middle School in Charlotte-Mecklenburg, represented her school and community as the national ambassador at the Do the Write Thing Recognition Summit in Washington, D.C. The summit focused on the theme "Tapestry of Voices, Threads of Change," highlighting the importance of diverse collections of stories and opinions. Haven's writing sample was chosen from 587 entries, addressing topics such as youth violence, domestic violence, bullying, and cyberbullying. She participated in workshops and visited landmarks, including the U.S. Supreme Court and Capitol Hill.
