Cespira, the joint venture between Westport Fuel Systems and Volvo Group, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Carlos Gonzalez as its new President and CEO, effective April 1, 2025. Carlos succeeds Dan Sceli, who held the position on an interim basis since the closing of the joint venture transaction in June 2024 and will continue to sit on Cespira’s board.
Carlos Gonzalez brings over 24 years of experience in the automotive and commercial vehicle industry across Europe, including the last 12 years as a leader at ZF Group, a global technology leader in advanced mobility solutions. His extensive background in business development and supply chain management, coupled with his passion for sustainability and innovation, makes him an ideal fit for Cespira's mission to deliver transformative solutions for hard-to-decarbonize transportation applications.
"I am thrilled to join this exceptional team in their mission to decarbonize the industry with cost-efficient technology that is perfectly suited for heavy-duty applications," said Carlos. "With a focus on customer satisfaction, environmental sustainability, and fleet efficiency, we will deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of the industry."
Carlos' appointment comes at a critical juncture for Cespira, as the company looks to expand access to High Pressure Direct Injection (HPDI) technology and overcome barriers to its adoption. HPDI technology enables internal combustion engines to operate with carbon neutral or fossil free fuels such as bio, e-fuels, or green hydrogen, without compromising performance and efficiency.
