The Centre Eaton de Montréal has announced an ambitious revitalization project for its food court, aiming to enhance the culinary experience for downtown Montreal visitors. This $200 million investment, part of Ivanhoé Cambridge's $1 billion Project Nouveau Centre, will transform the shopping centre and unify it with the neighbouring Complexe Les Ailes shopping centre.

The project, set to be completed in Fall 2026, will merge the two properties and restore the original name of the building, strengthening the Montreal Eaton Centre brand. The reconfigured centre will provide a redefined and enhanced commercial offering, including a gourmet food hall, numerous new leasing opportunities for large-format retailers, and increased visibility from four major arteries.

The revitalization project will also benefit from the renovation of Sainte-Catherine Street West and the future McGill light rail train station, part of the Réseau électrique métropolitain (REM), as well as the ongoing densification in the area. This strategic three-phase rollout will allow current retailers to continue operating during the renovations, ensuring a smooth transition and uninterrupted customer experience.

The Montreal Eaton Centre, with about 130 stores and restaurants, is the fourth-busiest shopping centre in Canada, with an estimated 24,100,000 visitors last year. The 11-storey Complexe Les Ailes, a mixed-use building with retail on its lower floors and office space above, was purchased by Ivanhoé Cambridge in 1999 and underwent extensive renovations.

The revitalization project aims to create a unique, welcoming, and warm dining experience, with a diverse selection of food concepts blending well-known brands with new-to-Canada eateries. The new food court will showcase Montréal's cultural and urban identity through innovative and sustainable design, encouraging meal breaks and gatherings among colleagues, friends, or families.

The project will be managed by JLL, a leading global commercial real estate and investment management firm, ensuring deep expertise in property management and commercial development. This strategic rollout will enable the Centre Eaton de Montréal to redefine the standards of excellence in its downtown commercial real estate landscape.

In conclusion, the Centre Eaton de Montréal's revitalization project promises an exciting new culinary experience in the heart of downtown Montreal. With a strategic three-phase rollout, innovative design, and a diverse selection of food concepts, the new food court will attract a wide range of visitors and enhance the overall shopping experience.
