Caterpillar CEO Joseph Creed will become the company's chairman on April 1, succeeding James Umpleby III, who will retire after 45 years with the company. Creed joined Caterpillar in 1997 and has been CEO since May 2025. Debra Reed-Klages will continue as lead independent director. The stock closed at $623.09 on the NYSE and traded higher in after-market hours.
