The trial stems from a 2020 lawsuit filed by Emani Ellis, a former security guard who alleges that Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, assaulted her outside a medical office in Beverly Hills in 2018. The incident, which allegedly occurred while Cardi B was pregnant with her first child, came to light in court as both parties presented their sides.
On the stand, Cardi B unequivocally denied any physical altercation with Ellis, maintaining that the confrontation was strictly verbal. The rapper painted a picture of an unexpected encounter, where Ellis purportedly used her cellphone to record Cardi B as she entered the obstetrician’s office, igniting a verbal exchange.
