Capcom Announces Spotlight Event Featuring Resident Evil Requiem Release Date

Capcom, a prominent Japanese video game company, has announced an upcoming showcase event titled Capcom Spotlight, scheduled for next Thursday at 3 PM PDT/6 PM EST/11 PM BST. The event will last for 40 minutes and will feature a variety of upcoming games, including Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Street Fighter 6.
Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth installment in the Resident Evil series, is set to release on February 27 next year for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game is being developed using Capcom’s proprietary game engine, RE ENGINE, and is expected to usher in a new era of survival horror. The game will offer both first and third-person perspectives, addressing criticisms from fans who were dissatisfied with the first-person perspective in Resident Evil 7. The trailer for Resident Evil Requiem introduced Grace Ashcroft, who is suspected to be the daughter of Resident Evil Outbreak’s Alyssa Ashcroft, and featured a ruined Raccoon City, hinting at a potential plotline involving Leon S. Kennedy, a fan-favorite character.
Pragmata, another highly anticipated game, will be released sometime next year. The game, which was initially revealed in 2020 and set for a 2022 release, was postponed due to internal setbacks. Pragmata features an astronaut named Hugh and a small girl named Dl0367, who saves Hugh after an unexpected encounter in space.
Monster Hunter Wilds fans can look forward to details on Title Update 2, which is set for release at the end of this month. Title Update 1 brought a variety of new features, including Mizutsune, Zoh Shia’s repeatable quest, Arch-tempered Rey Dau, The Grand Hb, Arena quests, and more. Title Update 2 is expected to continue supporting the game, which is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Street Fighter 6, which was released this month on the 5th for the Nintendo Switch 2, is also expected to receive news in the upcoming spotlight. The game revealed its third-year roster of playable DLC characters during the Summer Game Fest, including Sagat, C. Viper, Alex, and Ingrid. The trailer for Street Fighter 6 featured Sagat performing his trademark Tiger Shot, Tiger Uppercut, and Tiger Knee special moves against rival Ryu.
Capcom has also announced that the showcase will feature interviews with developers and more news on upcoming games. The event is expected to provide gamers with an exciting glimpse into the future of Capcom’s gaming portfolio.
