Unifor, Canada's largest auto workers' union, said on Sunday that its members at the CAMI assembly plant and battery assembly plant in Ontario, Canada, have signed a two-year contract with General Motors Co. (GM.US) that includes significant wage increases.

According to the report, members of Unifor Local88, the Canadian union's division, voted in favor of the contract by 95.7%, which will see workers' salaries rise by 10% immediately, 2% in September 2025 and 3% in July 2026.

Moreover, the union said in a statement that the contract will also provide a 20.25% salary increase for skilled tradespeople.

According to Unifor, the new two-year term agreement will expire on September 20, 2026.

"Unifor has successfully negotiated its first two-year contract, aligning CAMI members' wage negotiations with the Detroit Big Three's unions, and combining the future bargaining power of more than 5,600 members," said Lana Payne, national president of Unifor Canada.

However, General Motors did not immediately respond to any media requests for comment.

Unifor Local88 represents more than 1,300 union members at the CAMI assembly plant and the Battery Assembly in Canada, which produce General Motors' Chevrolet BrightDrop EV600 and EV400, as well as some modules of the company's Ultium electric vehicle batteries.
