Canadian CLO ETFs gain traction despite stigma, offering higher yields and lower default rates

CLO ETFs, which package corporate loans into tranches of risk, offer higher yields than traditional fixed income in Canada. Despite their benefits, they face an uphill climb due to negative associations with CDOs, which were involved in the 2008-09 market meltdown. The Canadian CLO market is unfamiliar to investors, and CLO ETFs are complex and require a deep corporate floating debt market.

CI Global Asset Management (CI GAM) has announced the regular cash distributions for its exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for the month ending June 30, 2025. The distributions will be paid on or before June 30, 2025, to unitholders of record on June 24, 2025. The ex-dividend date for all ETFs is June 24, 2025.
