Canada Awards $32M Contract to MDA Space for Space Surveillance Project
The Defence Investment Agency has awarded a $32-million contract to MDA Space to deliver ground-based optical capability for the Surveillance of Space 2 project. The contract will create or support 80 jobs annually and contribute approximately $9 million to Canada's GDP annually over six years. By 2028, MDA Space will establish three telescope sites in Alberta, Manitoba, and New Brunswick, providing persistent and reliable space surveillance from the ground. This investment demonstrates Canada's Defence Industrial Strategy and leverages Canadian innovation and expertise to deliver advanced capabilities for the Canadian Armed Forces while strengthening the broader defence industrial ecosystem.
