California Approves Verizon Acquisition of Frontier Communications

The California Public Utilities Commission is set to approve Verizon's $20 billion acquisition of Frontier Communications after the telecom company agreed to end its diversity, equity and inclusion programs. Verizon won FCC approval in May and expects to upgrade and expand Frontier's existing network in 25 states and deploy fiber to 1 million or more homes annually. The acquisition is set to be completed in September 2024.
