Caliche Development Partners has inaugurated the world's largest helium salt cavern at its Golden Triangle Storage complex in Beaumont, TX. The cavern has a storage capacity of over three billion cubic feet and is the second helium storage cavern in the US. The facility has brought in around 65 jobs during construction and has resulted in two full-time positions. Caliche has partnered with Sixth Street to develop the underground storage of natural gas, industrial gases, and carbon sequestration.

Caliche Development Partners has inaugurated the world's largest helium salt cavern at its Golden Triangle Storage complex in Beaumont, Texas. The cavern, with a storage capacity of over three billion cubic feet, is the second helium storage cavern in the United States and the third globally. The project, which created approximately 65 construction jobs and two permanent positions, is a significant milestone in the company's ongoing development of underground storage solutions.

The cavern is part of a strategic partnership between Caliche and Sixth Street, an acquisition and development company focused on the underground storage of natural gas, industrial gases, and carbon sequestration. The facility aims to serve critical industries such as aerospace, electronics, healthcare, and manufacturing, providing reliable storage for a gas that is vital to numerous high-tech applications.

Linde, a leading global industrial gases and engineering company, has secured long-term storage capacity in the cavern. This partnership represents a significant strategic advantage for Linde, enhancing its ability to manage inventory during supply disruptions and potentially capitalize on price fluctuations in the global helium market. The timing of this development is particularly relevant, given the recent volatility in global helium markets and supply disruptions from the US Bureau of Land Management's Federal Helium Reserve in Texas and geopolitical tensions affecting access to Russia's Amur helium plant.

The cavern's location in Beaumont, Texas, provides Linde with strategic logistics advantages, including proximity to Gulf Coast ports for international shipments and access to domestic distribution networks. This investment underscores Linde's commitment to strengthening its position in high-value industrial gas segments where supply chain resilience creates competitive differentiation.
