Bybit's Chief Compliance Officer Recognized Among Asia's Top 15

Bybit, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange, announced that its Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, Robert MacDonald, has been recognized by Asian Legal Business (ALB) as one of Asia’s top 15 chief compliance officers. This recognition highlights MacDonald’s significant contributions to redefining regulatory compliance as a strategic growth engine within the digital asset industry.

MacDonald’s leadership in navigating the complexities of cryptocurrency regulations through “regulatory diplomacy” has been instrumental in reinforcing Bybit’s commitment to legal integrity and robust governance. His background in regulatory compliance and combating financial crime has positioned Bybit at the forefront of industry best practices.

MacDonald’s extensive experience includes serving with the U.K. Ministry of Justice and engaging with the global financial crime watchdog, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), before transitioning to an international career in the private sector. His regulatory expertise has been applied to business growth strategies, making him a key figure in the industry.

During his tenure at Bybit, MacDonald has overseen the exchange’s growth from 30 million registered users to over 70 million users. This expansion has enabled Bybit to obtain several new licenses, including those in Austria, the UAE, Turkey, and Georgia. MacDonald was appointed as the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer of Bybit in September 2024. Prior to joining Bybit, he started his career in criminal justice as a UK-qualified barrister before transitioning to the public sector and later to multinationals in financial services, technology, and crypto and Web3.
