Several burger chains are closing underperforming locations as they review their restaurant operations. Hardee's closed 8 locations between August and December 2025, while Wendy's announced plans to close 300 locations in Q4 2025 and 2026. Burger King closed 4 US locations in 2025 and 6 in 2024, and McDonald's plans to close some older, underperforming locations this year. Whataburger is also closing 8 restaurant locations in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee.
