Broadcom Unveils Jericho4 Ethernet Fabric Router for Distributed AI Infrastructure

Broadcom has begun shipping the Jericho4 ethernet fabric router, designed for the next generation of distributed AI infrastructure. The router can interconnect over one million XPUs across multiple data centers and offers improved bandwidth, security, and lossless performance. Jericho4 scales to 36,000 HyperPorts, each operating at 3.2 Tb/s, with deep buffering, line-rate MACsec, and RoCE transport over 100km+ distances. Broadcom Inc. has begun shipping the Jericho4 ethernet fabric router, a purpose-built platform designed for the next generation of distributed AI infrastructure. The router is capable of interconnecting over one million XPUs (Accelerated Processing Units) across multiple data centers, offering improved bandwidth, security, and lossless performance [1].

The Jericho4 router scales to 36,000 HyperPorts, each operating at 3.2 Tbps, with deep buffering, line-rate MACsec (Media Access Control Security), and RoCE (RDMA over Converged Ethernet) transport over distances greater than 100 kilometers. This technology consolidates four 800GE links into a single logical port, boosting utilization by up to 70% and streamlining traffic flow across large fabrics [2].

The Jericho4 router is fully compliant with specifications developed by the Ultra Ethernet Consortium (UEC), ensuring interoperability across open, standards-based Ethernet AI fabrics. This allows seamless integration with a broad ecosystem of UEC-compliant NICs (Network Interface Cards), switches, and software stacks [3].
