Brilliant Corners, in collaboration with the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services Housing for Health Division, L.A. Care Health Plan, and Health Net, has launched a website for interim housing providers to apply for accessibility-related construction grants. The Interim Housing Accessibility Improvement Fund aims to support projects that enhance safety and access for people with disabilities experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles County.
The website, accessible at [https://brilliantcorners.org/IHAIF_RFA](https://brilliantcorners.org/IHAIF_RFA), opens on August 27, 2025, and applications will be accepted on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis through August 31, 2028, or until all funds are fully allocated. Eligible providers are encouraged to submit their applications promptly once they have identified needed accessibility upgrades.
The fund, powered by L.A. Care and Health Net, will provide grants of up to $100,000 to approximately 85 interim housing sites. The program is funded by L.A. Care and Health Net's Housing and Homelessness Incentive Program (HHIP), a $5 million investment aimed at expanding the number of interim housing sites across L.A. County that can effectively meet the needs of people with disabilities experiencing homelessness.
According to the California Department of Housing & Community Development, people with disabilities are the most likely to experience homelessness due to significant barriers in securing suitable permanent and interim housing. The initiative reflects a shared commitment among the partners to advancing equity by addressing the critical intersection of health, housing, and accessibility, particularly for underserved communities.
Eligible applicants include licensed free or community clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), public agencies, or tax-exempt 501(c)(3) entities providing interim housing services in Los Angeles County. Providers must meet specific criteria, including serving Medi-Cal or uninsured clients and using funds for accessibility-related construction projects aligned with ADA standards.
