This marks the first of the UK's advanced gas-cooled reactors (AGRs) to be declared free of all used nuclear fuel ahead of decommissioning [2]. The plant, comprising two 490 MWe reactors, has been successfully defueled and will now undergo decommissioning, a process expected to take several years.
