"Brevis Unveils Pico v1.0: Revolutionizing Zero-Knowledge Virtual Machines"
Brevis, a pioneering blockchain technology company, has unveiled Pico v1.0, a groundbreaking modular zero-knowledge virtual machine (zkVM) designed for scalability and high-performance verifiable computing. Unlike traditional zkVMs, Pico offers end-to-end customization, enabling developers to adjust prime fields, proving systems, and application-level coprocessor interfaces while leveraging historical on-chain data. This modular approach significantly enhances CPU performance, up to 155% compared to existing options.
Pico's innovative glue-and-coprocessor modular design combines a general-purpose zkVM with fast, application-specific circuits. Unlike conventional zkVMs that rely on basic precompiles, Pico offers adaptable circuits to handle a wide range of tasks. This novel method reduces the time to generate proofs and shrinks the numbers used to process old blockchain data by 35 times.
Michael Dong, a co-founder of Brevis, highlighted the transformative impact of Pico on zkVM design. "Pico is revolutionizing how we build and use zkVMs. By integrating built-in zkCoprocessors, we're making verifiable computation more customizable on Web3," he explained.
Pico also includes ProverChain, a programmable proving workflow that optimizes proof generation for cost, speed, and memory. Additionally, it supports Rust and RISC-V, allowing developers to build zero-knowledge applications within existing development environments.
Several Web3 projects, such as Kwenta, Usual, Algebra Labs, and JoJo Exchange, have already integrated Brevis-powered solutions. Other prominent projects, including PancakeSwap, Frax, and Quickswap, are currently developing next-generation products based on Pico's zkVM technology.
Brevis enables scalable off-chain computation for smart contract blockchains by utilizing zero-knowledge proofs. By relocating computationally complex processes off-chain without compromising Layer 1 security, Brevis allows Web3 applications to scale without sacrificing trust.
